Preserve our Cemeteries

The Society maintains nineteen cemeteries located throughout the Town of Embden. Members honor the memory of Veterans interred in the cemeteries by placing flags at Veterans' graves in late May each year.

Support Educational Pursuits

Each year the Society awards a scholarship of $1,000 to an Embden resident who holds a high-school diploma or its equivalent. Priority is given to those seeking to enter a "helping" profession.  For more information contact us.

Continue a New England Tradition

Originally started in 1909 when the publisher of the Boston Post forwarded to the Selectmen of 700 New England towns, Embden Historical Society continues the tradition of awarding the Town's Boston Post Cane to the oldest resident for the duration of his or her life.

Celebrate History: Special Events

The Historical Society supports a variety of special events to celebrate our history, including the Town's Bicentennial celebration in 2004, the installation of memorials that recognize the contributions of local veterans, and the commemoration of local historical sites.   We invite the community to join us in celebrating our past.
